Admissions at Changes Wellness

Reaching out about treatment can bring up a lot of questions, especially when you are not sure where to begin.

Our admissions team is here to listen, answer your questions, and help you understand what comes next. Same-day admission is available, and you can call for yourself or on behalf of a family member.

How Admission Works

Starting treatment does not mean you need to have everything figured out beforehand. The admissions process gives you an opportunity to talk through what is happening, understand your options, and determine what kind of care may be appropriate.

1

Start With a Conversation

You can call, email, or submit the form on this page. The admissions team is available 24/7 and will take the time to listen to your questions, understand what you are looking for, and explain what happens next.

2

Talk Through What You Need

From your first conversation, everything you share is confidential. You’ll have a chance to talk with an admissions specialist about what is going on, your needs and goals, and when you would ideally like to begin treatment. The admissions team can help determine the appropriate level of care based on your circumstances.

3

Check Your Insurance

If you have insurance, the team can review your benefits and explain what your plan may cover. Check your insurance coverage before making a decision. Benefit verification does not guarantee payment from your insurance carrier.
4

Complete Your Clinical Screening

Before treatment starts, the admissions and clinical team checks your recent substance use, withdrawal history, medications, medical and mental health history, vital signs, symptoms and safety concerns. Placement follows the ASAM Criteria and looks at all your needs. If you need hospital-level care, Changes Wellness coordinates a transfer.

5

Plan Your Arrival

Once admission is arranged, the team will schedule your arrival and help with the necessary paperwork. Same-day admission is available.

What Happens When You Arrive?

Arriving for treatment can feel like a big moment. At Changes Wellness, you’ll arrive at a private residence rather than an institutional setting.

The immediate focus is helping you feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while the team evaluates your withdrawal-management needs. CIWA-Ar for alcohol withdrawal or COWS for opioid withdrawal may be used when clinically appropriate.

We will show you to your accommodation, introduce you to the team, offer hydration and food as appropriate, and give you time to rest.
If you are experiencing acute withdrawal, you are not expected to immediately take part in a full day of treatment activities. Rest, hydration, nutrition, sleep, comfort, and stabilization take priority.
Staff is present around the clock, including overnight.

Understanding Treatment Costs and Insurance

Most PPO plans cover medically necessary detox and residential treatment. Changes Wellness works with clients who have commercial insurance benefits, but coverage varies by plan.

Verification of benefits is not a guarantee of payment by an insurance carrier.

If you do not have coverage or your benefits are limited, it may still be worth having a conversation. Speaking with admissions can help clarify available options before assuming treatment is financially out of reach.

Are You Calling for Yourself or Someone Else?

I'm looking for treatment for myself

You can call even if you are still unsure about what kind of treatment you need. The admissions team can talk through what is happening, your needs and goals, and what the next steps may look like.

I'm calling for someone I care about

You can contact admissions on behalf of a family member or friend. Family calls and visits can be scheduled when clinically appropriate and consistent with program guidelines and the client’s wishes.

Family involvement may also include family sessions, education, and participation in discharge planning. Treatment itself is voluntary.

Common Questions Before You Arrive

What does 24-hour monitoring look like?

Changes Wellness is staffed around the clock, including overnight. Monitoring may include scheduled safety observations, symptom assessments, vital signs when clinically indicated, and medication support according to medical orders. The team also communicates with the medical provider as needed based on your condition and care plan.

There is no single medication protocol for withdrawal. Medications are ordered by an authorized prescribing provider based on the substance involved, withdrawal severity, medical history, current medications, and clinical presentation.

Phone access may be limited during the first days of detox as you begin to stabilize. Essential communication with family, children, employers, attorneys, or medical providers can be facilitated when appropriate, and access expands as you stabilize.

No, not automatically. A prescribing provider reviews each medication individually, and it may be continued, reassessed, or adjusted based on your needs.

Treatment is voluntary. If you decide you want to leave, the team will first talk with you about what has changed, explore concerns that may be addressed, and discuss the safest next steps. If you still choose to leave, the team works to support as safe a transition as possible.

Yes, when clinically and legally appropriate. Changes Wellness can provide documentation supporting a qualifying condition and leave period without releasing psychotherapy notes. Information is released only with your authorization, and eligibility depends on your circumstances, so you should also check with your employer or HR.

Yes, when those concerns can be safely managed within the residential level of care. Changes Wellness caters to substance use alongside co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, and chronic stress. Acute psychiatric needs requiring hospitalization are referred to an appropriate level of care.

Start With a Conversation

You do not need to know exactly what you need before you reach out. You can call with questions, call for someone you care about, or simply talk through what is happening and find out what the next step may be.
